Advent is a time for waiting and preparing for the birth of Jesus. During this special time we prepare through assemblies, prayer and liturgy and our Advent prayer focus area. Each class spends time talking about how we can be ready for Jesus and learning about the Advent Wreath and other traditions.
The First Week of Advent
We started our Advent Journey on Monday 29th November. During the week each class came to visit the prayer focus area. They lit the first candle on the Advent Wreath symbolising HOPE and talked about how they could share hope with others.
The Second week of Advent
During the second week of Advent the children came to the prayer focus area to light the second candle sybolising PEACE. They talked about what peace means and how they can share the peace of Jesus with everyone we meet.
The Third week of Advent
This week we light the third candle symbolising JOY. We talked about the message that the angels shared with the shepherds and how we can also share the joy of Jesus.
On the fourth Sunday in Advent we light the candle symbolising LOVE. The children have really enjoyed their weekly Advent reflections and have listened carefully to the messages that they have heard.
