Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium Plan 2025-2028 with impact statement 2025
What is Pupil Premium funding and how do we use it at St Alban's?
Pupil Premium funding is allocated to local authorities and schools for pupils who are known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or those who have been eligible for FSM at any time in the last 6 years.
We spend this funding in a variety of ways, all which aim to raise attainment for pupils, support them academically and socially and ultimately narrow any gaps they may have.
Further information can be found by clicking here.
How can I apply for Free School Meals?
Please click here if you believe your child is entitled to FSM.
Please apply even if your child is in the Infants and entitled to the Universal Free School Meals offer as school will still receive the funding and can use this towards interventions, trips and resources to further support your child.

Summary of outcomes for 2025 and the three year strategy 2025-2028
At St Alban’s Catholic Primary School, we believe that every child is unique, loved by God, and capable of achieving great things. Our use of Pupil Premium funding reflects this belief. The grant helps us to remove barriers faced by some pupils so that all children—whatever their background—can flourish academically, socially, and spiritually.
Our current three-year strategy (2025–2028) focuses on:
-
Excellence in teaching – investing in high-quality professional development for teachers and teaching assistants so that every lesson meets the needs of all learners.
-
Targeted academic support – providing additional small-group and one-to-one teaching, early speech and language programmes, and carefully designed interventions in reading, writing, and maths.
-
Wider support and enrichment – improving attendance and wellbeing through ELSA and pastoral work, family support, and opportunities for every child to take part in school visits, clubs, and residential experiences.
Our approach is rooted in research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and guided by our Catholic mission to help every child “live life to the full” (John 10:10).
In recent years, St Alban’s has seen significant improvement in outcomes for disadvantaged pupils, including 100% achieving the Year 1 Phonics Check and strong progress across Key Stage 2. We continue to review the impact of our strategy each term and adapt our work to ensure every child is given the best possible chance to succeed.
